Project title: Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church Courtyard
A cracked, heaving concrete courtyard was a hazard for post-nuptial brides and their mothers exiting the church in stilettos. Designed in collaboration with architect Kurt Wassenaar, a memorial gift and work offered at cost by a contractor made a renovation of the church's entry courtyard possible. The design evolved through work sessions with the congregation and includes signage, benches, planters, and lighting. The curve of the new brick wall continues the curve of an existing memorial garden wall and connects the two outdoor spaces visually. Contractor: Abrahamse and Company Builders
