Project title: Sara Gropen Stoner Memorial Garden
An overgrown wooded area between a church and its annex was transformed by volunteers into a garden using funds donated in the memory of a wife and mother. Two pavilions, one adjacent to the church playground where parents can sit while keeping an eye on their children and one more remote for quiet conversations, are used for after-church socializing and outdoor Sunday school classes. An existing stone wall was cleared of overgrowth; its semi-circular shape suggested the center point of an ancient labyrinth design that has been set into the grass with stones for adult church members to walk in quiet contemplation. Contractor: Tom Elliott and volunteers.
