Project title: Ridgeway Kitchen
The kitchen of this vacation home for a professional couple and their three children is open to a large, high-ceilinged living and dining room. The kitchen island is the first thing one sees from the front door; its large scale prevents it from seeming diminutive in the large space, and it is designed like a piece of furniture to make an appropriate transition between the living areas and the work areas of the house. Locally quarried soapstone countertops are kid-friendly and cook-friendly, and the flooring was milled from white oak trees cut on the property. Cabinetmaker: Blue Run Cabinet Shop
