Project title: Boat Racers' House
The couple who own this Cape Cod on a small city lot are avid kayak and canoe racers. Because they recently combined households, they needed additional square footage for themselves and their stuff, including their multiple racing shells. Rather than build a remote boat shed, the boats were stacked vertically and tucked under a new storage attic that is an appendage of the larger addition housing a sunroom, an exercise room, a home office, and additional storage.
